The Wewelsburg castle is a medieval castle located in Büren, Germany. Though the first traces of a building can be traced back to the 9th century, the current castle was built in 1609 in a Renaissance style. The castle was used as an ideological-political school to form SS troops during World War II. Since 1950, it has become a museum and a youth hostel.
