The Registan Square was an ancient public square in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The square's name comes from the three madrasahs, or Islamic schools, located around the square, called the Ulugh Beg Madrasah, the Sher-Dor Madrasah, and the Tilla-Kari Madrasah. The Registan is one of the most famous sites in the Islamic world and one of the few in Central Asia to survive to this day.
