Built in the early 1800s, Mussenden Temple is Ireland's first classical temple. The monument was meant to be a library for Sir Frederick Augustus Hervey's niece and named after her. It sits atop one of the highest spots on the coastal ridge and is part of the Downhill Demesne. It has become an iconic landmark and tourist attraction under the National Trust's jurisdiction.
