Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba

Cordoba is best known for hosting the “La Mezquita“ Cathedral, also known as the "Mosque of a Thousand Pillars". The Great Mosque of Córdoba was for a time even the largest mosque in the world. In 1236 the Muslim place of worship was converted into a Christian church and by the 16th century, the Castillians made it a cathedral. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Moorish architecture, and remained throughout history an inspiration for the construction of other mosques and churches.
