The Monument of Independence of Ukraine in Kyiv was built in 2001 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. Rising to 62 meters in height, it was erected on the central Maidan Nezalezhnosti and is a prominent landmark and tourist attraction. Project sculptor Anatoly Kushch used his daughter as a model for the creation of the statue.
