The Kukulkan Pyramid was built between the 8th and 12th centuries and is one of the most important monuments of Chichen Itza's Mayan history. At 30 meters high, it is by no means the tallest built by the Mayans in antiquity, but it is the largest of its kind in Mexico. In 2007, the site was recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world and classified as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
