Situated in the northern part of Half Moon Bay near San Francisco, Mavericks is one of the most impressive surfing destinations. The unique underwater soil formation makes multiple wave rays converge into the enormous waves Mavericks is known for. Being a fairly popular spot in Big Waves surfing, the Titans of Mavericks, a big waves surfing event, was held here regularly from 1999 to 2016 during Mavericks' best surfing season, winter.
