Isla del Coco

Administrated by Costa Rica, Cocos Island is one of the pacific ocean’s many exceptional islands. Thanks to its distinctive ecology and surrounding waters, the island was erected to National Park and World Heritage Site statuses in 1978 and 1997. Cocos Island is approximately rectangular, measured about 8 km × 3 km (5 mi × 2 mi). The island has no inhabitants because of its location and the high traveling cost to reach it.
