This large freshwater lake is located in Myanmar (Burma), in the western Shan State, part of Shan Hills. Situated at an altitude of 884 meters, Inle Lake is famous for its extreme gardens and the lifestyle of the people inhabiting its “floating villages”. The lake also became a major tourist attraction during the past few years, thanks to tour operators and the construction of large private hotels nearby.
