Emerald Buddha Temple

A small statue of Buddha carved in greenstone (jasper) sits high on a grand pedestal dating from the 15th century in Bangkok, Thailand. The Emerald Buddha is seated in the lotus position clothed in gold and is about 26 inches tall. His temple, built in 1783, is believed to bring happiness to its visitors; which come daily in great numbers to visit the Temple and see the mythic statuette.
