Eiger

Known mostly for harboring the Alps’ biggest north face, the 1800 meters high «Nordwand» or “Northern Wall”, the Eiger mountain rises 3,967 meters high. Though first climbed from the western flank in 1858, it took 80 years before it was successfully climbed from its northern flank. Since then, over 60 climbers lost their life while challenging the Nordwand.
