Founded in 1894, Ipanema is a district in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the city and is home to the famous beach of the same name. Ipanema is bordered by other famous areas of the city including Leblon, Copacabana and Lagoa.
