At the center of the Finnish capital, stands out a neoclassical building with a distinctive green roof and an overall breathtaking exterior. Built from 1830 to 1852 and originally called St. Nicholas’ church after the Tsar of Russia, it was not until Finland’s independence that it was renamed “Helsinki Cathedral”. In contrast to its exterior and extravagant design, its interior design is much more humble, strikes in its simplicity and accommodates the Lutherans belief in modesty.
