Urquhart Castle
The ruins of Urquhart Castle, once one of the largest castles in Scotland, are located on a headland with panoramic views on the legendary Loch Ness Lake. According to some sources, the castle was built as early as the 12th century for William the Lion. Thanks to its rich history, its full-size trebuchet, its modern visitors center and a hint of legend; it's easy to understand why Urquhart Castle is one of Scotland's most visited castles nowadays, welcoming over half a million visitors in 2018.
