Palace Square
The "Palace Square" in St Petersburg, Russia, was once the scene of several major events in the country, including the Bloody Sunday massacre in 1905 or the October Revolution in 1917. Built between 1754 and 1762, the Winter Palace is the oldest monument on the Palace Square. The column of Alexander, which occupies the center of the square, was built to commemorate the victory of Alexander I over the Napoleonic armies.
